Visa launches office hub in Fiji, setting a new path for growth across the Pacific Islands
11/13/2025
Visa, a world leader in digital payments, has announced the opening of a new regional office in Suva, Fiji. The office will serve as a hub for Visa's operations in the Pacific Islands, enhancing the company's ability to support its partners and clients and the growth of the Pacific Islands’ economies.
The new office demonstrates Visa’s ongoing dedication to fuelling innovation and accelerating the region’s digital transformation, helping to connect consumers, businesses, and governments.
"We are proud to be establishing a physical presence in the Pacific Islands, which will enable us to better serve our partners and clients in the region," said Anthony Watson, Country Manager for New Zealand and Pacific Islands at Visa.
“The Pacific Islands are at the forefront of an exciting transformation, with innovation and growth rapidly shaping the digital payments landscape. We’re proud to play a role in this moment, working alongside local businesses to unlock new opportunities that foster sustainable economic growth across the region”, Anthony continued.
With increasing internet access and smartphone use reshaping the region’s financial services landscape, the hub is strategically positioned to serve Fiji and the wider Pacific as a centre for digital financial innovation.
The hub will also strengthen the cross-border payment landscape, deepening ties and presence within the global market, unlocking substantial growth and business opportunities.
To celebrate the milestone, Visa hosted an event, with the Honorable Viliame Gavoka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, opening proceedings. The event brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, key partners and central bank representatives, including Mr Ariff Ali, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji. Visa’s recently appointed sponsorship ambassador, Fijian rugby star Jerry Tuwai, was also in attendance, sharing his personal journey with guests.
“We welcome the new Visa office and the commitment to strengthen Fiji’s payments landscape, empower local industry, and enable seamless experiences for visitors and locals alike”, said Hon. Viliame Gavoka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation.
“I look forward to seeing how this regional hub will further accelerate the momentum we’re seeing across the country, and how new opportunities for innovation will further support economic growth and prosperity,” Minister Gavoka continued.
Visa has been working with several partners in the Pacific Islands, including Good Return, to promote the adoption of secure, convenient, and reliable payment solutions through financial education. The Visa x Good Return initiative training has resulted in significant improvements in financial capability (scores rising from 6.1 to 7.6 out of 10), and a boost in trust for mobile payments (62% to 96% after the training).
The new office in Fiji will further enhance these efforts and reinforce Visa’s ongoing commitment to Fiji and the Pacific by providing on-ground support and expertise.
