Visa appoints Anthony Watson as Country Manager for New Zealand and South Pacific

08/02/2021

Visa, the world leader in digital payments, has today announced the appointment of Anthony Watson as Country Manager for New Zealand and South Pacific. Watson succeeds Marty Kerr, who is taking on a new regional strategy role with Visa in Asia Pacific.

Watson was most recently Visa’s Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives, where he was responsible for establishing Visa’s presence and enabling digital payments over the past five years. He has held various leadership positions in a career with Visa that spans more than a decade, having led relationships with Visa’s financial institution partners in Australia and New Zealand and product development initiatives across Asia Pacific.

Commenting on his appointment, Watson said: “I’m looking forward to supporting the payments ecosystem in New Zealand and the South Pacific as consumers, businesses and governments rapidly turn to digital commerce in response to the dramatic changes to everyday life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Julian Potter, Visa’s Group Country Manager for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, said: “Anthony brings a wealth of experience and leadership skills that will help us deliver further value to our partners in New Zealand and across the South Pacific. With his proven track record of empowering fintechs and small businesses via Visa’s global commerce network, I am delighted to welcome Anthony to this new role.”

Watson is a graduate from Victoria University of Technology (Computer Systems Engineering) and Australian Institute of Management (Business Management).
